Tuesday/Wednesday Morning Box Office Totals

From TFW2005:
According to Deadline, Transformers Dark of the Moon did a total of 13.5 Million for Tuesday IMAX 3D and Midnight and later Wednesday showings. This is less than Revenge of the Fallen, but it's a different world today, and people are less likely to spend 40 bucks to stay up late during the week. Plus, not all folks had access to IMAX or 3D Theaters late last night and want to wait for that.

My DOTM Review

Epic! Awesome! Amazing! Outstanding! Jaw-dropping!  That is how you can describe Transformers: Dark of the Moon and I am not just saying that because I'm a Transformers fan.  I will make a better review tomorrow when I'm in my right mind.  That's how amazing it was.  It was emotional.  It was thrilling.  It was sad.  It was joyful.  And Rosie was terrific by the way.  Slight spoilers after the jump.

NYC Premiere Live

Are the Twins Really Not in TF3?

It sure looks like they are judging from this video.  I will let you guys know after I see the movie tonight.  I will also let you know about Dino/Mirage and Que/Wheeljack, what new transformers are in the movie we have not heard about and if Shockwave speaks or not.  I will post my full review of the movie tomorrow.  Head over to the Transformers DOTM News Facebook Page to watch the video.  I'm am very dissapointed right now.  If you look closely at Sideswipe, you can see the head of his driver dressed in a black body suit.  Hopefully those scenes were cut from the movie.Note: I will never post spoilers on the front page.  When I post them, you will have to click "Read more" to view them.

Earth. Goes. Dark.

The time has come everyone.  Tomorrow night, most of us will be heading to the theaters to watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  It seems like it can't be true, but it is.  When I go tomorrow night, I'm hoping to see some devoted fans with their Optimus or Bumblebee 3D glasses masks and I expect a big turnout to see the summer's best movie.  So far on Rotten Tomatoes (a critic site for those of you who haven't heard of it) there are 7 good reviews and 4 bad ones, which is pretty good considering the first two in the Transformers franchise did not do quite as well with reviews.  Keep in mind there are only 11 reviews on the site to this point.  The outcome is looking good for Tranformers 3.  Now more than the last couple of months when people didn't even know there was a third one.  Yea, there's going to be a lot of people who say, "I'm not watching it 'cause there's no Megan Fox," (Isn't that sentence getting annoying?) but those people will be greatly outnumbered by the true fans and the people that just love seeing action thrillers and having a great time at the movies.  Will TF3 break box office records?  I sure hope so, but the most important thing about this movie is enjoying yourself in the movie theater cheering on the Autobots (or the Decepticons) and having a great time in the summer of 2011.  So here's to Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D.  Enjoy the movie. (There will be a scene during the credits)

Oh, by the way, for those of you wondering about the future of this blog, it will continue after Transformers: Dark of the Moon until the DVD/Blu-Ray release.  After that the blog's name will change (haven't decided on a name yet) and I will not be updating the site as frequently.  If TF4 happens, I will cover it.  The name change will not happen for a few months and I will let you know about it before it happens.

Thank you for all your support  -MV

BK Commercial 2 (Updated)

An extended Burger King commercial has aired during today's NASCAR race in Sonoma.  I was watching it on my TV that doesn't have DVR, so I was unable to record it.  Long story short, BK was pretty much destroyed in this one.  The roof caved in, etc.  I did notice that Shockwave looked very purple.  A lot more than what we've seen of him.
Update: Found a video.

Off Topic:  My local theater is showing Transformers at 8:45 on Tuesday!  15 minutes off the clock for me!

Thank You From Michael Bay

I just want to take the opportunity to thank all the fans around the world for letting me have fun with the Transformers franchise. It has been a wonderful opportunity to have worked with about 4000 crew members around the world. These artists are some of the very best in the entire film business. I’m honored to have had you work along side me. We had an amazing time.

‘Dark of the Moon’ has some of the most technically challenging sequences ever shot. And shot in 3D. I must urge you to find the very best theatre and see this movie in that format. 3D was a forethought, not an afterthought in this movie. I’m glad Jim Cameron and Steven Spielberg really convinced me to shoot in this new technology. We used and invented many new techniques to make the 3D sharper, brighter and more color contrast. I think theatre owners heard their audience that they need to respect the specs of the projectors and not dim the bulbs to save money.

Many theaters are presenting it in the brand new 7.1 sound, which is awesome. This is the most complex, intricate sound track that me and my Academy Awarding winning sound team have done. They really out did themselves to make this a big picture experience. Hopefully you will have as much fun watching this movie as we all had making it.

Thanks,

Michael Bay

Extended TV Spot Shown During Wipeout

Here is a minute long TV spot that was shown with Wipeout.  It is amazing!

Day in the Life of a DOTM Extra

Here is an article written by an extra from Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  He was involved in the scenes where Sam and Epps are driving in the car in Chicago.  It is a really good article and it was very interesting to read.  You can definitely say that being an extra in a Michael Bay film is not an easy job.  Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you.  While you are watching Transformers on Tuesday night, keep an ear out for, "Oh my gosh! Noooooooo!!"

Also: Check out michaelbay.com for photos from the premiere!

Movie Premiere Interviews

Thanks to Prime from TF MTMTE, here are some interviews from the premiere in Moscow.  Spoiler under video, but it isn't what happens, but what doesn't happen, and you can hear the spoiler if you watch Tyrese's interview.

Tyrese's character, Epps, does not die.

News From the Premiere

From TFW2005:
"I'm really proud we are doing a premiere here: I think it's a wonderful world stage," director Michael Bay told reporters in Moscow, where a crowd of fans waiting for autographs outside one of the city's main hotels attested to the Russian film audience's growing appetite for Hollywood movies.

"I grew up during the Cold War. My grandfather, who is from Russia, said I would never make it into the film business... That's partly why I'm here," Bay said.

Actor Shia LaBeouf said "Dark of the Moon" -- whose action plays out against the backdrop of the U.S.-Russian space race -- was the best yet in the saga.

"The third movie is the best one. It's the strongest script we've ever had, it's the best character development, it's paced well, it's shot incredibly," LaBeouf, who starred in all three movies, told Reuters.

"Technologically, it's the most advanced, just the best special effects we've ever devised!"

TV Spot 21 "Believe"

World Premiere and Awesome Billboard

Check out this billboard in London.  It looks amazing!
The world premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon is today in Moscow, Russia!  I believe it will be starting in just a couple of hours.  There will also be a Linkin Park concert there as well and of course, they will be performing Iridescent.  The rest of us are just going to have to wait a little bit longer to see the movie.  It looks like I will be seeing it in 3D on June 28, but I am trying to get tickets to an early showing on June 27.  Their going to be hard to get, so I'll probably see it on the 28th.  I think I can wait one more day if I've been waiting months for this.  Also, remember that today, Transformers MTMTE will be covering the movie premiere.  Hold on everyone!  It's less than a week away!  You can do it!

Shockwave in the NY Times

The New York Times has posted an article about Transformers: Dark of the Moon featuring Shockwave!  It includes a new movie still as well.  Unfortunately, it looks like Shockwave will not be speaking in TF3.  You can read the article here.

BK Toys Are Here

Yesterday, Burger King started giving away their DOTM toys with every kids meal.  The toys include: Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream, Ironhide, Shockwave, Soundwave and Ratchet.  They do not transform, but each one does something different when you press a button.

2 More TV Spots (Updated)

Here are 2 more TV spots.  The first one is amazing and it uses the Inception music!  Embedding has been disabled on both videos, so you will have to click the links.  Also, in some of the TV spots where Optimus punches a Decepticon, it is NOT Shockwave.  The backside looks nothing like him.  It actually looks like a drone.
Update: Embeddable videos.

TV Spot Shown With Transformers

I was watching Transformers on TNT tonight and there was a new TV spot shown.  It was only 15 seconds and contained no new footage.  I recorded it so you can see it.

New "Trailers Page" and FB Like Box

Because I have no more room on the sidebar to post TV spots, I have made a new page called "Trailers" where I will be putting all of the new spots.  I have also taken away the "Fan Made Trailers" page and I have added those trailers to the bottom of the "Trailers" page.

Another addition to this site is the Facebook like box on the right sidebar.  You can click the "Like" button and you will automatically "Like" the Transformers DOTM News Facebook page.  It also shows a list of 8 random people who like the page.  Also, don't forget to follow this blog by clicking the "Follow" button on the left sidebar.

-Thanks, MV

TV Spot 15 (Updated)

TV spot 15 has been spotted.  We get our first look at Sideswipe and Megatron, and if I'm not mistaken, this is also our first look at Ironhide other than the scene of him running into two of the Dreads.  This TV spot partly uses the sound from the Super Bowl spot from earlier in the year.
Update: HD

Poll Results

Here are the lastest poll results:

Will Michael Bay direct TF4? (26 votes)
Yes- 50%
No- 50%

Do you think all of the Decepticons will die in TF3? (27 votes)
Yes- 62%
No- 37%

As you can see, no one can say for sure whether they think Michael Bay will come back.  It was an exact tie.  Thanks for voting!

TV Spot 14 (Updated)

Here is another to TV spot.  It shows more of the Starscream vs. Sam battle.  Thanks to Jose from Facebook for the link.
Update: HD

DOTM TV Week

Tuesday, June 28th- Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Regis and Kelly)

2 New TV Spots (Update 3)

Update: Better quality on 2nd video.
Update 2: Better quality on 1st video.
Update 3: Better quality on 2nd video.

Release Pushed Up Again

Transformers 3 has a new release time: June 28th at 9pm according to Slash Film.  This is 3 hours of waiting we can take off our countdown clocks!  This will only be for 3D and IMAX 3D versions of the movie, so the official release for the movie is still June 29th. Here is the article:

"Subtract another three hours off your Transformers: Dark of the Moon countdown clock. Paramount just announced that they’ll open the film, exclusively on 3D and IMAX 3D screens, on Tuesday June 28 at 9 p.m. It’ll open in all dimensions 3 hours later, at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday June 29."

Upcoming on TV (Updated)

UPDATE: Josh Duhamel will be on Leno tonight and NOT Letterman.  My mistake.

There are a couple of things to watch for on TV.  Tonight, Josh Duhamel will be on Letterman.  I'm expecting a new clip while he is on.  By the way, when Rosie was on Jimmy Fallon last night, they only showed a clip of the trailer and nothing new.  Also, on June 20th, there will be a Transformers: Dark of the Moon themed Cake Boss on TLC.  Buddy the Cake Boss will be making a giant Bumblebee cake.  So far, it looks like there will be no Transformers talk show guests on TV next week, but I expect them to be all over TV in a little less than two weeks when the movie comes out.

Also: You can watch the second episode of my webshow (The Marlee and Mike Show) by clicking here.  I'm Mike, FYI.  And remember to check out the forum, "follow" this blog by clicking 'Follow' on the left sidebar, and suggest my Facebook page to your friends!

Iridescent Trailer

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

AWESOME! That's all I have to say about this.  I am absolutely speechless about how amazing this movie is going to be.  When you press play your mouth will drop.  My question is:  Why is Bumblebee so upset? Oh, and by the way, BARRICADE is in Transformers: Dark of the Moon!
Enjoy!

Higher Quality "Brains" Spot (Updated)

Here is the TV spot from a while back featuring Brains.
Update: Substituted for YouTube video.

Dark of the Moon Clip (Updated)

A new clip was shown on David Letterman last night while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was on.  The clip involves Carly Spencer and Sam Witwicky ( and a bunny).
Update: If you listen closely, you can hear Iridescent in the background.

New TV Spot

A new TV spot has aired.  TFW2005 said there is a major spoiler in it, but I don't see anything unless it's who Optimus punches in half (hard to tell who it is).  Will be looking for HD.  ALSO, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will be on David Letterman tonight and on Jimmy Fallon tomorrow.

More DOTM The Game Info (Updated)

Just like last time: Spoilers about characters, prequel story line, etc.

I am just about to start the final level of Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game.  To this point, Warpath was killed by Megatron, Stratosphere and Silverbolt were killed by Starscream, and it looks like Air Raid was killed by Starscream as well.  In level 6, Megatron found his truck alt mode and gave Optimus a pretty bad beating (Optimus did have his trailer and could fly with it).  I will update you on level 7 on this post.
Update:  Just finished the very long, difficult last level with Optimus vs. Shockwave (who does not talk at all) and the Driller.  It ends just like the prequel comic (Rising Storm).  Optimus is about the finish Shockwave off and The Driller saves him.  In the ending scene, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave meet together (looks like Africa maybe?) and Megatron reveals his plan, which I will not say since it will be part of the plot in TF3.  It was a great game that all Transformers fans should definitely get.

Making of Dark of the Moon

"The Hub television network, a destination for kids and their families, will present - in advance of the theater debut of the eagerly anticipated blockbuster film - the world premiere of the original special “The Making of ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’,” a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming third feature film in the hugely successful film franchise. Based on the popular Hasbro brand Transformers, The Hub Original Special offers a sneak peek at footage from the film and features appearances by director Michael Bay and original interviews with the cast including Shia Labeouf and Josh Duhamel."

“The Making of ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’” will be presented only on The Hub
, premiering Saturday, June 25 (2 p.m. ET), with encore performances Sunday, June 26 (10 p.m. ET), Saturday, July 2 (12:30 p.m. ET), Sunday, July 3 (9 p.m. ET), and Monday, July 4 (12:30 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET). The special is produced by Hasbro Studios."

DOTM The Game

This post contains information about the prequel game to Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  If you are sensitive to spoilers about characters, alt modes or the prequel story line, do not read.

I am now on level 4 of 7 on DOTM The Game (PS3) and I have found some very interesting things.  First of all, in level 4, Soundwave is an SUV and not the silver Mercedes.  Optimus and the Autobots found out about Soundwave being attatched to the satellite and Megatron ordered Soundwave to come down to earth.  Mirage (who does turn invisible) is playable in level 3 and does have an Italian accent.  Wheeljack has only been mentioned to this point and not shown.  So far I think the game is a huge step up from the other two.  The gameplay is amazing and I would highly recommend getting it.  I will update this post if I see more interesting information.

New Short TV Spot

A new TV spot has been spotted that shows Brains.  It is very short (about 15 seconds).  I will post the HD version when available.

Poll Results and Other News

The results are in!  I'm really excited that so many participated in this poll!  Thank you!  The "Other" category made a small last minute surge, but it wasn't enough to take home first place.  Here are the results:

Which Autobot do you think will die in DOTM? (91 votes)
Ironhide- 54%
Other- 19%
Optimus- 7%
Bumblebee- 6%
Ratchet- 5%
Sideswipe- 5%

In other news, I have added the Wreckers banners to the Wallpapers page of the site and I have added the preview of the movie score to the Music page.
-Thanks, MV

The Wreckers

We finally have the CGI renders of the Wreckers:  Topspin (48), Roadbuster (88) and Leadfoot (42)!  They look so awesome, especially Roadbuster!  I have noticed one mistake though and this is just because I'm an obsessive NASCAR fan.  On Leadfoot's chest, there is the 2 doors of the car and both windows have window nets.  In reality, the driver's side has a window net and the other is actually a window.  But, other than that, they look amazing!  Click the images to see them in full size.

Part of Score Revealed

The Transformers Official Website is now playing some parts of 5 different songs from the score.  It sounds amazing, just like everything Steve Jablonsky has composed for Transformers.  One actually sounds like a remix of a song from ROTF and another reminds me of something from the Narnia movies.  If you have a certain Firefox Add-on, you can read the titles of the songs.  You can see them after the jump for possible spoiler reasons, but it pretty much only gives away as much as the trailers and TV spots have.

More Transformers Action! (Updated)

Well, remember when we all thought the movie was confirmed to be 2 hours and 14 minutes?  There is now a possiblity that it could actually be 2 hours and 33 minutes according to bfi.org!  This information is from an IMAX website, but I can't imagine there would be 19 extra minutes of footage in an IMAX theater.  Plague1980, a member of the Shoot for the Edit forums from Michael Bay Dot Com has said, "Well, I just got off the phone with my local Imax and they say the run time is 153 min."  Many other websites say 153 minutes as well and Fandango still lists it as 1 hour and 49 minutes.  So what do you think?
Update:  This is technically correct.  Nelson had this to say via Twitter:  "Imax print of #Transformers3 has no extra footage as being reported by some web sites. TF3 is 2hrs & 22mins plus 10min credit crawl."  This means Transformers DOTM is 8 minutes longer than the initial run time confirmation!

Nelson has tweeted: "It is done."  Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been completed unlike ROTF, which was still being worked on a couple of hours before the movie premiere.  This means that everything has been finished, from the CGI to sound mixing.  Now, the last step is to send out copies of the movie to theaters all around the world and we are less than 21 days away from the worldwide release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Unknown Transformers in DOTM

Recently on the Michael Bay forums, there was a post about Silverbolt.  Many people are hoping he will be in DOTM and it is still possible, even though Nelson has stated that he was not in the script.  There is still a possibility he could be in the movie, but maybe just not a huge part of the plot.  Nelson's exact words were, "According to the script: no".  Notice how he did not rule out Silverbolt in TF3.  Later on he went on to inform us of some very pleasant and exciting news: "There are other Transformers you are not aware of in the film."  So, it looks like unlike ROTF and TF1, there will be some new characters revealed to us when we are sitting in the movie theater on June 29th!  Most of us still don't know who the Superfund bank truck is unless you read the novel, and it doesn't look like we will be finding out who that is until June 29th as well.  So that is definitely some exciting news to hear leading into the premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon!

Double A Laserbeak Commercial

Here is a Transformers commercial featuring Laserbeak.  It's kind of corny, but it's worth a look.

Warpath Video Game Art

Hey everyone! I had a long day today making a webshow video with my friend. We do talk about Transformers at 2:10 and 9:24 if you're interested.  Just go to my channel to see the video.  Anyways, here is the new artwork of Warpath from the TF DOTM game.  He looks pretty awesome in the video game, but as you can probably tell, he won't be in the movie, just by looking at his design.  And remember to check out the forum on the page bar and suggest my Facebook page to your friends!

-Thanks, MV

Iridescent Music Video Editing

After watching the Iridescent music video again after it went down for "technical difficulties", I have noticed the video has undergone some adjustments, additions and subtractions. One major change is Optimus Prime appears instead of the dogs running for a second time.  So, if you haven't seen the video since yesterday, take the time to look at it again.

The Blue Mercedes is...

Quite a news day today.  Nelson has posted that the blue Mercedes is called 'Que' (pronounced 'Q').  So, today we have two new characters: Que and Dino (formally Wheeljack and Mirage)  I like the original names better, but I guess I'm going to have to live with it.

The Red Ferrari is...

Well, um... his name is Dino.  Yea, I know right?  I'm not very happy because I think 'Mirage' is way cooler.  Nelson has announced the name on michaelbay.com and that he is named after the Ferrari founder's late son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari.  Hopefully, the named won't be actually used in the movie and if it is, I'll feel like I'm watching the Flintstones.

DOTM Burger King Toys

You just can't have a Transformers movie hit the theaters before Burger King has their Transformers toys released.  This year, it's kind of a cute little toy with a giant head where the body can fold into.  The characters include: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream, Ironhide, Shockwave, Ratchet and Soundwave.  You can receive your toy by getting a BK Kids Meal or you can just buy them.  The promotion starts June 20th.
