Wahlberg Back for TF5 & TF6

Marky Mark is back for Transformers 5 and Transformers 6 according to the actor in an interview for his new movie, The Gambler. Wahlberg went on to say that while he cannot speak for director Michael Bay, he believes they will be back on set sometime soon. So could it be that Michael Bay is back once more? "Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more... you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon."

TF4 Passes $1 Billion, Bay to Return?

Transformers Age of Extinction has crossed the $1 billion dollar mark. It did so on August 2nd when the foreign box office numbers for the film came in from July 27th, so even though it was official slightly later than Dark of the Moon (July 31st), the mark was crossed at roughly the exact same time. Also it is notable that there were many countries where TF4 was released later due to the World Cup. As of August 3rd, Transformers 4 has totaled $241,206,987 in the US and has just now fallen outside the top 10 (11th) in daily earnings. The movie should come very close to Captain America The Winter Soldier and The Lego Movie domestically but only time will tell if it is able to surpass them. Overall, Age of Extinction now sits at $1,005,006,987 worldwide as of August 3rd, which puts it 18th all time. It passed The Dark Knight for that 18th spot yesterday. Transformers 4 has yet to be released in three more countries, including Japan.

Michael Bay is now rumored to return for Transformers 5 after signing a three year extension with Paramount Pictures. This does not necessarily guarantee a return to the director's chair for more Transformers films though. The deal was specifically in regards to Bay's production companies Platinum Dune and Bay Films. The deal could hint towards Bay directing the fifth Transformers film or it could also be for a producer role or even for another Paramount distributed movie.

TF5 Back to 2017

Well apparently Paramount Pictures has corrected an apparent error by saying Transformers 5 would be released in 2016 by once again saying it will be 2017. On the other hand Michael Bay is playing coy by saying he had no clue Transformers 5 was even being considered right now and Lorenzo di Bonaventura seems to think Transformers 5 is not exactly green lit. In other words, either no one has any clue whats happening or they're trying to keep it under wraps until they see the success Age of Extinction has. My guess is the latter.

Trailer News, Leaked Toys, Plot and More!

I'm back! After a tiring last couple of weeks I'm back with a ton of big news. First of all, we have some new still which include Nicola Peltz and an unknown Transformer being acted out by Michael Bay, Wahlberg and Reynor by Bumblebee, the Autobots approaching a destroyed car and more. You can see them at the bottom of this post.

Secondly, we have some more information about the plot and story of the film. As a bit of minor news, the characters names have been confirmed as Cade (Wahlberg) and Tessa Teager (Peltz) and Shane Dyson (Reynor). Empire magazine gave a brief plot rundown you can see below. Skip it if you don't want any spoilers about the storyline.

Earth is scarred by the events of the past three movies, but is moving on after all the giant robots disappeared. Cade Yeager, an inventor, discovers a buried Transformer which sets the stage for the return of the rest of the Transformers.

Next we have some leaked toy images. The first is of Optimus Prime that differs slightly from the one that was previously seen. The others include Bumblebee, Hound (now confirmed as the bearded guy we saw in Detroit) and Swoop/Strafe who seems to have two heads in Dinobot mode. (Photos at bottom)

Steve Aoki, who collaborated with Linkin Park on their last album is rumored to be working on the Transformers 4 soundtrack after sending out an interesting tweet:

Michael Bay recently did an interview with IGN in which he said that Age of Extinction will be much more cinematic and have no goofiness, unlike the previous trilogy:

In the 4th installment of the live action Transformers series, Bay states this film will be "much more cinematic" and "won't [have] any goofiness." This is followed up with describing star actor Mark Wahlberg's character as a "wacky inventor." 

Bay also went on to say that Transformers: The Ride and the excitement around it was what made him return for a fourth go at Transformers and in another interview, he voiced that he has not ruled out returning for Transformers 5.

The first Transformers footage release date has been confirmed, although that is a bit of bad news. Our first look will be a 30 second spot during the 2014 Super Bowl. A teaser trailer will come shortly after, according to Michael Bay on his website.

Transformers 4, 5 and 6 Filming Begins in June (Update)

April Fools' Day joke? Maybe. I highly doubt it though. Michael Bay has announced on his website, michaelbay.com, that filming for Transformers 4, 5 and 6 will begin this June.

"Transformers 4, 5, & 6 will begin filming back to back starting June 2013. More details to follow."

This is some huge news. It means that they have storyline and plot that will run throughout the next three movies and it also means that Michael Bay will direct the next three movies. It's actually kind of funny that he would announce this today, seeing as many people will think it's a prank. Very clever, Mr. Bay. Very clever. What do you think about this move? Is it a good idea? Also, there is a rumor going around the web right now stemming from an April Fools' prank that Shia LaBeouf will be voicing a new Autobot in Transformers 4. This is false information.

UPDATE: The post has been removed from Bay's website. Seems like it was an April Fools' joke and I'm a bit mad right now.

TF4 Filming Begins in December Along With TF5

Glenn Morshower, who has starred in the first three Transformers movies, will be in Transformers 4 AND Transformers 5. Morshower said that he was approached by producer Steven Spielberg after the opening of Transformers The Ride about his involvement in the next two movies. He also stated that Transformers 4 filming will begin this December along with Transformers 5, which probably means that the rumors from a few months ago were true and TF4 and TF5 will be shot back to back. This technique has been done with other movies like the last two Harry Potter movies and two of The Matrix movies. This could also be a hint for director Michael Bay returning for a fifth Transformers movie, especially after his latest interview in which he said that Transformers 4 will probably be his last. Before that interview, he always said that Transformers 4 will be his last.

"After I did the opening ceremonies for the ride, Steven Spielberg walked up to me and chatted and said 'You know we've got you set to do the fourth one and probably the fifth one on the heels of that," said on how he was approached about the new sequels. "So, I guess in December we are on our way to making 4 and 5."
