Titus Welliver Talks TF4

Minor Spoilers:
Randy Jennings of The Arnold Fans was able to get an exclusive interview with Transformers 4 star Titus Welliver. Welliver gave a bit more detail on Savoy, the villainous character he portrays, and even talked about his children's extensive knowledge of Transformers. To see the full interview, click the above link.

TheArnoldFans: What can you tell me about your role in the upcoming Transformers?

Welliver: I basically play the shark, like the shark of JAWS. I play this (Navy) Seal who has been tasked with eradicating the world of Transformers. Since the battle in Chicago in the previous film, they've now become outlawed so I'm in charge of a group of guys who are doing that.

Mark Wahlberg Talks TF4

Mark Wahlberg had a little chat with Just Jared about Transformers 4 and the human element. See what he had to say below:

"With Transformers: Age of Extinction, did you agree to do that one for your kids?

Well, it was exciting because it was the first time my kids were really interested in a movie I was doing. Any time they see me with a gun, like Contraband or Pain & Gain, they want to see that, too, but they can’t because of the language and all that stuff. But I loved working with Michael Bay, and I thought he had a really interesting way to make it new, different, and fresh. Plus, being in movies that have the potential to be hugely successful allows me to make smaller movies that I’m really passionate about.

What’s going to make this Transformers different? The first one was OK, but then the sequels were a total mess.

It was a tighter script, and its own stand-alone thing. I think the emotional core of it, the human element, is going to be extremely powerful. It’s an ordinary man trying to do extraordinary things to save his daughter and keep her alive—and this boyfriend he didn’t know anything about. He’d had a child when he was in high school and his wife passed away, and the promise he’d made to her was that she wouldn’t date any boys until she graduated and that she’d be at the graduation—because we weren’t due to the pregnancy. So there’s an anchor to it and a realness to it that I like a lot.

[Then, an assistant comes in and places a brace around Wahlberg’s neck.]

I hurt my neck in Hong Kong, and it hasn’t gotten better yet. I just woke up in the morning and couldn’t move, but still had to shoot 10 days of crazy action."

Trailer News, Leaked Toys, Plot and More!

I'm back! After a tiring last couple of weeks I'm back with a ton of big news. First of all, we have some new still which include Nicola Peltz and an unknown Transformer being acted out by Michael Bay, Wahlberg and Reynor by Bumblebee, the Autobots approaching a destroyed car and more. You can see them at the bottom of this post.

Secondly, we have some more information about the plot and story of the film. As a bit of minor news, the characters names have been confirmed as Cade (Wahlberg) and Tessa Teager (Peltz) and Shane Dyson (Reynor). Empire magazine gave a brief plot rundown you can see below. Skip it if you don't want any spoilers about the storyline.

Earth is scarred by the events of the past three movies, but is moving on after all the giant robots disappeared. Cade Yeager, an inventor, discovers a buried Transformer which sets the stage for the return of the rest of the Transformers.

Next we have some leaked toy images. The first is of Optimus Prime that differs slightly from the one that was previously seen. The others include Bumblebee, Hound (now confirmed as the bearded guy we saw in Detroit) and Swoop/Strafe who seems to have two heads in Dinobot mode. (Photos at bottom)

Steve Aoki, who collaborated with Linkin Park on their last album is rumored to be working on the Transformers 4 soundtrack after sending out an interesting tweet:

Michael Bay recently did an interview with IGN in which he said that Age of Extinction will be much more cinematic and have no goofiness, unlike the previous trilogy:

In the 4th installment of the live action Transformers series, Bay states this film will be "much more cinematic" and "won't [have] any goofiness." This is followed up with describing star actor Mark Wahlberg's character as a "wacky inventor."

Bay also went on to say that Transformers: The Ride and the excitement around it was what made him return for a fourth go at Transformers and in another interview, he voiced that he has not ruled out returning for Transformers 5.

The first Transformers footage release date has been confirmed, although that is a bit of bad news. Our first look will be a 30 second spot during the 2014 Super Bowl. A teaser trailer will come shortly after, according to Michael Bay on his website.

Mark Wahlberg Discusses Human Element of TF4

During a press conference interview for his upcoming movie 2 Guns, Transformers 4 star Mark Wahlberg discussed the human element of Transformers 4. Wahlberg will be playing a single dad to Nicola Peltz's character and later finds out that she has been dating Jack Reynor's character behind his back. Later, he also talks about a difficult time he faced while filming.

"I give [Jack] a lot of shit in this movie. I didn't know my daughter had a boyfriend and then all of a sudden, this punk kid is thrust into my life and I have to deal with him while dealing with this very extraordinary set of circumstances...I have to entrust the most important thing in my life to him at a certain stage in the movie, 'if something happens to me then protect my little girl'. I love the human element of the movie."

Wahlberg Talks TF4 Routine and Dinobots

Metro News Canada had an interview with Transformers 4 star Mark Wahlberg and he was pretty tight lipped, but he did mention his character will play a single dad. Below you can see what he had to say about his daily routine while on set.

"I don’t go out at night anymore, so that makes it a lot easier. I go home, I’ll eat dinner, I’ll read the script and prepare for the next day’s work, and go to bed right away. I’ll wake up with a little bit of time to say my prayers, read my prayer book, maybe do a little workout, and then get back at it. And then steal a cat nap whenever I can during the work day — but (‘Transformers’ director) Michael (Bay), once he starts working, he doesn’t like to stop."

In another interview with MTV, Wahlberg was asked about the Dinobots. Many are thinking his answers hinted towards their appearance, but I don't really see anything we can speculate about.

"None of your business. You don't want me to get replaced halfway through production for divulging secrets".

"It feels like a completely different movie, very fresh. Obviously, it's a really interesting dynamic, being a young, single dad having a teenage daughter, trying to succeed as an inventor, having very little means and also trying to provide for my family. Then all hell breaks loose."

Spoilers: Possible TF4 Plot Details Revealed

If you are sensitive to spoilers, stop reading now. A while back, it looked like Transformers 4 would film on the USS Bramble, a retired Coast Guard ship that sits in Marine City, Michigan. Michael Bay has decided to pass on the location probably due to him finding another place that is more suitable or cheaper. The owner of the ship did gave away some details as to what the ship would be used for though. He said that the look Michael Bay was searching for was a dark, Russian waterfront. The scene filmed there would've been people searching for the Autobots.

In other news, filming dates for Chicago have been finalized. The Transformers 4 crew will be filming there from August 18th through September 27th.

Transformers 4 "Remember Chicago" Billboard

A prop billboard has been spotted in Granger, Texas that reads "Remember Chicago, Report Alien Activity 855-363-8392." This is of course referring to the devastation of the Decepticon attack in Chicago during Dark of the Moon and it is asking people to call the number if they have any information on the Transformers. Could this mean Autobots too? Could they be in hiding? The number on the billboard has been tested and it doesn't seem to be a valid number. I'd expect this to turn into a marketing plan though when the movie gets closer. It'd be pretty cool if you could call and someone picks up the phone. Thanks to @jfall for the photo!
UPDATE: Multiple people are telling me that the number actually is valid and just asks you to leave a message.
UPDATE MARCH 2014: The phone number is up and running! When you dial the number you will receive a message telling you that Transformers are dangerous and to go to TransformersAreDangerous.com.

TF4 in Texas and Scenes Revealed

Time for some pretty big news. Dallas News is reporting that Transformers 4 will be filming in Texas, which is somewhat to be expected since a while back, Jack Reynor's character was described as a race car driver from Texas. Mark Wahlberg's character will reside in a farmhouse Pflugerville, Texas. Various shooting locations in Texas will include Lockhart, Taylor, Elgin and Pflugerville. Taylor and Lockhart will combine to become a fictional town and Lockhart's Caldwell County Courthouse will also be a location used for filming. That stuff isn't the big news though. Thanks to Deby Lannen, the Main Street program manager of Taylor, Texas, we have our first details of a scene included in Transformers 4. She said that a police chase will close downtown Taylor and a railway overpass. Could this possibly mean an appearance from the Autobot Prowl? She also went on to say that a car will be exploded in Robinson Park, but that is definitely considered a common occurrence in a Transformers movie. One more potential scene that is described very vaguely is that Decepticons will chase down the good guys, which could mean either humans, Autobots, or even both, throughout Central Texas. Filming in Texas will last about three to four weeks.

From Dallas News:
"No plot has been released for the film, but Mark Wahlberg will star along with Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz. The home of Wahlberg’s good-guy character will be a farmhouse in Pflugerville. Bay has previously said the film will take a different direction with many new actors.

The Austin Film Commission confirmed three to four weeks of filming in the small towns of Lockhart, Taylor, Elgin and Pflugerville.

Bay Gives Small TF4 Hint

The folks over at comingsoon.net asked Michael Bay during a recent interview for Pain and Gain if he could use a word or phrase to sum up Transformers 4. Bay grinned and said, "chase from hell." This could mean absolutely anything and my only guess would be having to do with race cars. What do you think it means? Comment below!

TF4 Synopsis is False?

Bleeding Cool has updated their original post regarding the plot summary released by the Michigan Film Office. It seems like Paramount Pictures contacted them to let them know that the information is false.

Paramount have been in touch to say that the “information previously posted is inaccurate.” Scratch that, then…?

I wouldn't automatically take this site's word though just because of the fact that it's a blog. The irony is that this post you're reading is on a blog, but I just find news off the web and report on it with links leading back to the original sources. I will keep you guys updated on any further news on this story and hopefully Michael Bay will comment about this on his official site soon.

Transformers 4 Plot Revealed

MLive has revealed the plot for Transformers 4 in the form of an official press release and also confirmed that it will indeed film in Detroit, Michigan. The plot summary does have some spoilers of course, which give away the basic story of what will be happening in the movie. It's nothing too huge though and most likely you will hear this summary eventually anyway since many future articles will probably use it. If you do not want to see it, stop reading immediately.

SPOILERS BELOW
As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.

The Transformers have mostly left the the planet? Scientists have made a big mistake with technology? An ancient, powerful Transformer? That's some crazy stuff! My guess is that the US once again decided to exile the Autobots after everything that happened in Dark of the Moon and some scientists are trying to make technology that could prevent any further attacks by the Decepticons. One could also argue that this ancient, powerful menace could be Unicron.

More minor news from the article is that Transformers 4 will film in Detroit this spring. This means that filming will probably take place there in May and June before moving onto Chicago for four months. There was also early speculation filming could take place in China and London as well. According to MLive, TF4 was awarded an incentive of $20 million on $82 million of projected in-state expenditures from Michigan.

Bay Discusses TF4 With Forbes

Here's an interview with Transformers 4 director Michael Bay. He talks about the reboot rumors as well as the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest.

Will that change the way you do anything on Transformers 4?We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first three movies is still there, we start four years later and there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast.
Mark is really excited about it and it’s a great redesign. I said that 3 [which grossed $1.1 billion] was going to be my last one. Paramount was letting me do Pain & Gain and the Transformers ride was opening at Universal and it was bittersweet to think of passing it off. I wanted to set it up on a really sure footing and to bring someone else in on that, it would have been overwhelming.

So is 4 a reboot? No, that’s wrong. We keep the Transformers the way they were, it’s just four years later. There’s a reason the Transformers are redesigned. We’re trying to broaden the franchise and give it more places to go.

What will the winner [of Crash the Super Bowl] actually get to do on the Transformers 4 set?Replace me as director. No, we’ll see who the person is and depending on what he is interested in being, a producer or a director, we’ll try to tailor the job. It’s all hard work when you’re working on a movie.

Leaked TF4 Script is Fake

Michael Bay has responded on his website regarding the so-called leaked Transformers 4 script:

Some Internet sites this morning reported that some document recovery guy has found a legitimate 120 page script of Transformers 4. I can absolutely 100 percent say this is completely false. The only two people in the world that have our unfinished script are Kruger and myself. Also we are only up to page 70 in our T4 script. Maybe this guy has a cartoon or something else – but definitely not our movie!

Bay

After reading what Bay had to say, I read through the summary of the "leaked" script since I knew I couldn't be spoiled and I now feel silly for reporting on it. It's full of inconsistencies and it looks to have a character list that some G1 fan has a wishlist for. Some of those characters are the Dinobots, the same characters that Bay vowed to never put in a Transformers movie because he doesn't see how they could fit in live. There's also the fact that the script includes the character Circuit Breaker. Although she is a Transformers character, that character belongs to Marvel/Disney, which means that Paramount Pictures would have to pay a hefty price to use her in Transformers 4.

In the end, the script is false, but this false news has caused some real production progress news to surface. According to Bay, the script is written up to page 70, which actually isn't as much as I'd expect.

Stick around for more Transformers 4 news as it happens!

Transformers 4 Script Leaked?

Unleash The Fan Boy is claiming that they have obtained a leaked copy of the Transformers 4 script that was last revised on November 30th. The script is 120 pages long and of course contains major spoilers. Take it as a grain of salt if it's true or not. I read through bits and pieces of it, while trying not to read over major parts of it in case it is real so I won't get spoiled. The villain will probably get some people excited, but that's as far as I'm going to say. Don't be surprised if this is the real deal, considering that Transformers 1-3 had script leaks and so did Ninja Turtles (produced by Michael Bay), whose director actually confirmed it was the actual script. Listen out for a response from Bay on this one and you can read a script summary here. Warning: Major spoilers.

Bay Talks TF4 Plot, Wahlberg, LaBeouf

In a recent telephone interview with TMZ, Michael Bay chatted shortly about the plot of Transformers 4, the casting of Mark Wahlberg and Transformers trilogy star, Shia LaBeouf. First off, Bay admitted that he and Wahlberg were not discussing his possible involvement in Transformers 4, but after the internet rumors began, Bay thought it was a good idea.

You saw the whole Internet Rumor that he was on. And that wasn’t really true. And we were in the inception part of the story. And just talking with Stephen Spielberg. And that was a great way to really take this franchise in a different direction. We’re doing a lot of things that are going to really make it feel fresh and new. And he’s an actor, he has accomplished, he’s an Academy Award Nominee and I love working with him and he’s got a great sense of comedy and great pathos. He’s a guy who can handle great action. And he never had a huge franchise. So this is something that really appealed to him. He said “I really want to show a movie to my kids”. You know? It kinda happened.

Bay Seems to be Getting Help on TF4 - From Us

Michael Bay left an interesting little message on his website about Transformers 4:

I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Walhberg. Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4. I had such a great time working with Mark on Pain and Gain, and he gave such a great performance – well let’s say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas. We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let’s say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer – so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter.

Michael

It seems like Bay liked a couple ideas that were posted online. They could be from TFW2005, Seibertron, his own forum or any other place on the web. Do you think one of your ideas was noticed by Mr. Bay himself? What do you think about him using ideas from the internet? Comment below!
