Michael Bay has announced that he hired Jack Reynor to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4. The latest rumors were indeed true about Reynor's casting, unlike the older rumors regarding Brenton Thwaites.
I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal. Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net. This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.
Two of the three major lead roles have now been cast. The other one is supposedly going to be the daughter of Wahlberg's character and the girlfriend of Reynor's. Nicola Peltz, Gabriella Wilde, Isabelle Cornish and Margaret Qualley were names that were released to be in the running at the same time Reynor's name popped up. Nicola Peltz is believed to have the edge for now.
Another interesting tidbit from this news is that Bay also announced that this series is embarking on a second trilogy, which means six movies at the moment will be released (dating back to 2007) before any thoughts of rebooting the franchise. Now for some speculation: Michael Bay wrote, "We are embarking on a new trilogy." Could this possibly be a hint that he is once again not ready to leave Transformers for good?
