3D Blu-Ray Release and Bonus Feature Previews
Tomorrow is the day! The DOTM Limited Edition 4-Disc 3D Blu-Ray and the 7-Disc Trilogy Set will be released. Both will have the bonus features included for Dark of the Moon. The Trilogy Set seems to be priced around $90 to $100 depending on where you buy it and the 3D Blu-Ray seems to be going from $20 to $40. Remember that if you bought the plain, bare bones edition of TF3, make sure to use your $10 off coupon if you buy the 3D version. I will be heading out tomorrow to buy my copy and I'll be posting photos of how the case looks on the Transformers News Facebook Page. I went to Target this afternoon to see if they were being set up early, but unfortunately they were not. I guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow. Below, you will see links to some bonus feature sneak peeks thanks to the TF3 Twitter page.Wednesday, January 25, 2012

5 Things About DOTM's Visual Effects
1) The Driller has 70,051 parts (7x number Prime has).
2) Took 288 hours per frame to render Driller destroying the CGI building.
3) 3D essentially created twice the work with the left eye image and then the right eye being rendered.
4) For final week before deadline, all of ILM's render farm was used for movie or 2000,000 render hours (or 22.8 years) per day.
5) "Secret Sauce" used to make images extra sharp and brighter.

Here are some subtle things seen during Dark of the Moon. Do not continue reading if you have not seen the movie. Slight and major spoilers after the jump. Thank You From Michael Bay
I just want to take the opportunity to thank all the fans around the world for letting me have fun with the Transformers franchise. It has been a wonderful opportunity to have worked with about 4000 crew members around the world. These artists are some of the very best in the entire film business. I’m honored to have had you work along side me. We had an amazing time.
‘Dark of the Moon’ has some of the most technically challenging sequences ever shot. And shot in 3D. I must urge you to find the very best theatre and see this movie in that format. 3D was a forethought, not an afterthought in this movie. I’m glad Jim Cameron and Steven Spielberg really convinced me to shoot in this new technology. We used and invented many new techniques to make the 3D sharper, brighter and more color contrast. I think theatre owners heard their audience that they need to respect the specs of the projectors and not dim the bulbs to save money.
Many theaters are presenting it in the brand new 7.1 sound, which is awesome. This is the most complex, intricate sound track that me and my Academy Awarding winning sound team have done. They really out did themselves to make this a big picture experience. Hopefully you will have as much fun watching this movie as we all had making it.
Thanks,
Michael Bay

Day in the Life of a DOTM Extra
Here is an article written by an extra from Transformers: Dark of the Moon. He was involved in the scenes where Sam and Epps are driving in the car in Chicago. It is a really good article and it was very interesting to read. You can definitely say that being an extra in a Michael Bay film is not an easy job. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you. While you are watching Transformers on Tuesday night, keep an ear out for, "Oh my gosh! Noooooooo!!"
